Saturday 13th December. The Club Christmas Dinner has had to be cancelled due to ongoing problems with the buildings insurance, this has prevented the work on the water damage in the kitchen and upstairs area being undertaken. Wednesday 3rd December First meeting of the "new" club committee at the Arns, for a 7.30 start. If you haven't recieved a copy of the Agenda & minutes, click here. Thursday 20th November. The AGM took place at the Arns. A good turnout of members took part in discussion about the 2009 leagues, and changes to Licensing procedures for the club. The 2009 membership subscriptions will remain unchanged. It was confirmed that players can request a standing order form to pay their subs monthly between now and the beginning of the season. Further details from Walter or by contacting this site. The new committee were agreed and the first committe meeting is scheduled for the 3rd of December. Committee Friday 14th November Quiz night, six teams took part in the quiz, but none could match the cerebral power of the Pressies select. Saturday 1st of November the junior awards night took place in the clubhouse. Wednesday 22nd October Committee meeting at the Arns 7.30pm. Wednesday 8th & 15th October The UKCC introductory coaching course took place at Tullygarth from 6pm until 8pm. This was an excellent course, if you couldn't make it this time, go for it at Dunblane on Wednesday 12th & 19th of November, same times. Saturday 4th October. The Senior awards night took place at the Arns. Any photos (and an awards list would be nice). The following Clackmannan County Junior players have been invited for trial for the Academy squad. (assuming they have replied to Kari!!!) Blair Campbell, Charlie McNish, Dan Smith, Elliot Milton, Graham Oliver, Jamie McCann and Ralf Watson. Best of luck guys. Wednesday 17th Septmember Committee Meeting 7.30 pm in the clubhouse. Agreed that in 2009 the club will play in ESCA 4 & ESCA 7 and on Sundays either in S&PCU 2 or 3. Sunday 7th September The 3rd XI didn't play Kirriemuir at the Arns on the artificial - Game cancelled. 3rds finished 2nd top of the division and will play in either division 2 (if Sunday play is possible) or 3 next year. Saturday 6th September. The 2nd team promotion dinner was a great success, 17 of the two's making it to the event, ending up, after the chillie experience, in an Oz bar in Stirling. Photos? anyone!!! Wednesday 3rd September. Now that the final ESCA Top performers have been calculated, the clubs congratulations to those who made it into the top ten. A great effort for the club to have so many players featuring in the top stats. For division 4 Third in the batting Craig Black with 577 runs and seventh Geoff Logan with 350. A deserved first place in the bowling for Riswan Ashraf with 28 wickets, Craig Black 3rd with 26 and Tippu Sultan 10th with 19. Top Performances Craig Black 129 no against Largo, Tippu Sultans 6 for 18 against Carnegie, Craig Blacks 5 for 20 against Townhill, Matthew Booths 5 for 45 against Kismet and Alan Olivers 5 for 45 against Kirk Brae. In Division 8 Dan Smith was 3rd in the batting with 278 and Neil Ramsay 2nd in the bowling with 24 wickets. Top performances Gordon Oliver 84no against Peebles, Dan Smith 78 against Drummond Trinity, Greig Taylor 52 no against Peebles and Nick Bryant-Nicholls 53no against Corstorphine in the bowling Paddy Mitchell 6 for 23 against Kirk Brae and Muktar Ahmed 5 for 7 against Peebles. Well done gentlemen and a big thank you to all of the others who just missed out in the top stats but who performed well throughout the season. Wednesday 6th August The afternoon Kwik Cricket event at the Arns was cancelled due to the bad weather. Monday 4th - Wednesday 6th. Graham Oliver played for Caledonia at the District Tournament in the West. The team stayed at Jordanhill College, but due to the weather only managed one game, at Ayr against West, which they won. Since no other games were played Caledonia won the tournament. Graham opened the batting and scored 3 and took 2 wickets for 17. Morven Ross had even less luck getting a game, both her Under 17 Scotland games this week were cancelled due to the weather. Monday 4th - Friday 8th August In conjuction with Clackmannanshire Sports Development, a junior "come and try" event was run at the Arns or indoor at Tulligarth when the weather was rainy, morning's from 10 till 12. Tuesday 27th May Essential maintenance work (spraying weedkiller) is being done on the ground at 8pm. The senior practice will be run, but will finish at 7.45pm. Sunday 13th April Another ground works day, picking up sticks, moving sightscreens, cutting grass, toting bales etc etc. All help appreciated. Saturday 5th April Ground preparation day, a hive of activity, players in the nets, a pigeon released, an overturned lorry, the first freight train in 30 odd years, but not much in the way of ground preparation. Tuesday 1st & Thursday 3rd April .The first week of "outdoor" practice for the senior squad. Wet? a bit, Warm? you jest, but come along anyway. Saturday 29th March A collection of keen yin's, turned up at the club on Saturday morning to repair the net frame and erect the nets. Thanks to the six souls, who braved the chill and wet, to move our season forward another wee bit. If you missed out on that, there are still plenty of things needing done and your help would be greatly appreciated at the ground preparation day on Saturday the 5th of April. Friday 28th March The players meeting was held at the Arns at 7 pm. A good turnout of players listened to the captains and discussed the coming season. Photos were taken and membership forms filled in. Note; all players must have completed a 2008 membership form and have returned the form to Jim Penners before the 12th to be included in any of the league games. Sunday 23rd March. A successful race night was held at the Arns. The generosity of those present provided some of the finance required for the coming season. Just a pity not many of the players could be there. Kevin King showed his expertise in horse trading by buying the winning horse in the final race and winning himself two tickets for the Touring Car racing at Knockhill. Thursday 6th March after the heady sojourn to the Games Hall last Saturday the senior practice is back in the Lornshill Gym on Thursday evenings from 8pm till the back of nine until the end of the month.. It's called use it or lose it . It looks as if Alloa Academy Games Hall will be available for senior use between 8pm and 9pm on Monday evenings - speak to the coaches or send this site an e-mail if you want to be included. Sunday 24th February Oh! what a missed chance for someone No. 37 won the bonus ball but no one was on it and it was a roll over. The heavy rainfall over the last week doesn't augur well for the outfield. A nice period of good hard frost would be good over the next couple of weeks!! The photos have been transferred to their own special wee file. Tree Fellers Good News from Friday 25th January the eight till late opening of the bar at the Arns resumes. A great opportunity to replace the fluids lost at the Thursday evening indoor training, or just to meet, have a blether, talk a good game, set the world to rights. There are still a few Bonus Ball numbers to be had. If you are interested in taking part in the bonus ball then, speak to Walter. For those of a historical bent, the first Friday of every month will see a meeting in the clubhouse to organise the club archive material - of which there is tons - to collate the artifacts and set up a database of the clubs past. January 17th, Over the next few weeks the trees at the railway end of the Arns will be removed by a Rail Track contractor. The Arns should be treeless before the start of the season. See photogallery Thursday 17th January An indoor senior practice was held in a Gym at Lornshill Academy from 8pm until 9pm. Cost £2. This will be a regular Thursday date until the start of the Arns Practice. If you want to take part, please come along. Contact Ando or this site for more info. The junior indoor cricket nets will start on Monday the 7th of January 2008 from 7pm till 9pm at the Alloa Academy Games hall. Younger juniors from 7 till 8 older juniors from 8 till 9.
