The annual Primary Schools day at the Arns involved some 340 pupils from most of the local Primary schools. The event sponsored by Taggart Jaguar National introductory programme challenge was a great success and the club would like to thank Clackmannanshire Sports Development, Sports Central, Cricketscotland and all those from the club who gave up their time to coach and help out in so many ways. Special thanks to Kari Anderson the Forth Valley Cricket Development Officer for the excellent way she organised the event.

A player for the future?
The Ronald Cunningham Quaich was the clubs Kwik Cricket Trophy and the winning team used to go through to the National final of the Kwik Cricket competition, however that competition is no more. It was decided that the Ronald Cunningham Quaich should now be given to the school who, in the opinion of the coaches, exemplified the best aspects of fair play, ability and concentration required for the game of cricket.

The Jaguar challenge requires each player to complete six tasks which include catching, throwing, bowling and striking. Each school is split up into groups who try each of the activities in turn. The pupils, working with the coaches and against the clock, are awarded points individually for successfully completing each tasks. All of the pupils individual score are added towards the schools total. The school totals for the day are shown on the left. There were six challenge stations with six tasks operating for the first half of the day under the watchful eye of the coaches.

The schools not involved in the challenges played small sided games around the ground, run and coached by the club's helpers. In the afternoon all of the schools were involved in cricket matches.

Thanks to all the cricketscotland development staff for running the Jaguar challenge stations, the other volunteers for taking care of the matches and the staff from the schools for being prepared to muck in so cheerfully with all the activities.
