Date 25/8/2007 Venue The Arns, Alloa Result Win for CCCC Weather Sunny / cloudy/windy
by Dan Smith

Clackmannan captain Graeme Anderson lost the toss and was put into bat. Clacks opening pair of Alan and Gordon Oliver batted conservatively in the first few over's, before Alan was bowled for 0. Craig Black then joined Gordon Oliver, but this partnership was brought to an abrupt end with Gordon being bowled for 9. This left Clacks sitting precariously on 14 for 2 after 4 over's, but Graeme Anderson and Craig Black consolidated, with a partnership of 50 runs before Black was dismissed for 27. Clackmannan then suffered a batting collapse, losing Ross Murray, James Couper and Tipu Sultan for only 22 runs, leaving Clacks on 86 for 7. Paul Hooper then joined skipper Anderson and looked in good form, scoring freely, before being trapped LBW for 9. Another mini collapse ensued with both Dan Smith and Noor Jhangir being dismissed in the space of 3 balls, leaving Clacks on 110 for 9. However, number 11 batsman Matthew Booth showed the Clacks top order how to apply themselves, batting for over ten over's. This allowed Clacks skipper Anderson to reach his 50, an inspirational innings from the skipper. When Booth was finally dismissed for 13 in the 39th over skipper Anderson was marooned on 69 not out. Clackmannan finished on 163 all out.

Clackmannan opened the bowling with the usual pairing of Booth and Black. The first wickets fell in the fourth over, with Black taking two wickets in two balls. Both Kirk Brae batsmen then played cautiously. It wasn’t until the 13th over that Clackmannan took another wicket, with Noor Jhangir dismissing the remaining Kirk Brae opener, leaving Kirk Brae on 39 for 2. Kirk Brae’s number 4 and 5 batsmen then put on a partnership of 43 for the 4th wicket, before Jhangir clean bowled Kirk Brae’s number 4. Kirk Brae then suffered a massive collapse, sliding from 82 for 4 to 116 all out. The pick of the bowlers were Craig Black 3 for 15, Tipu Sultan 2 for 30, Noor Jhangir 2 for 21 and Graeme Anderson 3 for 22.

An excellent performance from Clacks who ended a much improved season with a victory. This secures Clackmannan second place in the league, unfortunately not enough for promotion this year.
