Main report by Greig Taylor, second report by Alan Oliver. Two reports woo hoo! Sorry, second one is a scan, so is a bit restricted in size.

On Clackmannan County’s quest to maintain their 100% record in the Strathmore Union, Cupar were the next team that they had to overcome.  On a blissful day, Clackmannan won the toss and elected to bat.  Blackie and the skip, Alan, opened the batting in usual fashion.  Oliver was first to go, chipping a ball back to the bowler, Stonebridge for 2.  This wicket brought Graham Fraser to the crease and he looked to capitalise on the chance of batting up the order.  His first scoring shot was a textbook cut that brought him 3 runs.  The partnership flourished as the two ran hard between the wickets and dispatched any loose ball that was given to them.  With the score on 92, Fraser (15) was bowled by the Cupar captain, Ian Wilkinson.  A promoted Tippu Sultan came in and scored a quick-fire 28 with some scintillating shots.  Meanwhile, Craig Black was nearing his second ton of the season and the score box curse did it for him again, as he tried to reverse sweep the bowling of young Lois Wilkinson.  Unfortunately for Blackie, the ball brushed his glove and the keeper completed the catch, out for a magnificent 86.   Kash Ali then soon departed, only scoring 1, trying to dispatch the young spinner.  During these last 3 wickets, Ash Rasul was moving the score along nicely.  Next in was Greig Taylor, who batted sensibly, trying to rotate the strike and thus allowing Rasul the majority of the strike.  Taylor was undone, by the slower ball of Stonebridge, for a confidence building knock of 16.  Rasul was then bowled trying to up the score, for a well earned 50.  Steve Jelfs (0) and Gordon Oliver (0) were bowled in consecutive balls by I Wilkinson.  Blair Campbell (0*) and Will Kay (2*) saw Clackmannan through to their allotted overs with the team finishing on 216 – 9.
After a great tea, Clackmannan took the field and looked to take wickets from the onset, and Will Kay provided having Tranger caught by the ever-growing Campbell at mid-wicket for 0.  Ian Stonebridge, Cupar’s overseas amateur, was striking the ball to all parts and after scoring 158* earlier in the week in a 20/20 match, Clackmannan knew that they had to get rid of the batsman before he could do much damage.  After a couple of glorious shots, his ex-schoolmate, Craig Black, bowled him as he tried to carve the ball behind square.  In a good spell of bowling from Kash Ali, he removed the next 3 batsmen in quick succession as they could not pick which ball he was going to bowl.  Campbell and Sultan, both bowled good lines and lengths and were both rewarded with wickets, Sultan bowling Cupar keeper Anderson for 61, the only decent contribution to Cupar’s paltry score of 135.  Although Anderson should have been run out the over before but keeper Greig Taylor missed the chance to run out him out in what was a farcical effort.  However, not to be put down, Taylor then took two very good stumpings off Alan Oliver to finish up the match.
A good performance by the Clackmannan batsmen set up, in the end, a comfortable victory for the home side.  The 3rd XI travel to Meigle next week in what should be another good game of cricket.
