| Match Report | |||||||||||||||
The 2nd team went to Crieff with vice-captain Alison Ramsay at the helm. Being a friendly some of the usual seconds had a day off which allowed Iain Cairns and young Jack Aitken to debut for the two's. Crieff are at the moment returning to play eleven a side fixtures after a period where players were in short supply. That their famine has been relieved was amply shown when thirteen turned up to play. It was agreed to play twelve a side, Clackmannnan took first strike. Opener Neil Brown, still half way along the motorway when the innings started, dropped down the order to practice his map reading skills. (easy seen its his sister not Neil who is the Scottish Orienteering Champion!) The Clackmannan players all contributed to the score including some excellent running between the wickets in the latter stages of the game. Special mention must be made of Ash Rasuls 58 in 59 minutes. After an excellent tea ("wow! Mars bars" Clackmannan Junior) the Clackmannan opening bowlers started well then Murchie & Lamb put on 48 for the second wicket. All credit to the young Alloa team who stuck to their task and were rewarded by a regular fall of wickets. In the 31st over Vass ran out of partners(all eleven of them). Crieff All out 114. Best of the bowlers for Clackmannan Ash Rasul 3 for 14 in 5.3 and Graham Oliver 2 for 29 in 6( not bad for a mini Leggie) Catch of the Day (Ct & Bowled) A Milne (nae luck Jeff) Verdict; A good team effort with bat and ball against a friendly competitive team. Thanks to Crieff for their hospitality and best of luck with the attempt to resurrect a senior eleven a side cricket team in Crieff. |
