Match Report The Clackmannan 2nd team travelled to Townhill, Dunfermline to play Kismet on a warm sunny Saturday. Things did not get off to a good start, the Clackmannan side travelled with ten players and, unbeknown to them, an opening bowler who had left his kit at the Arns. Captain Scott Malcolmson, calling on weeks of practice, lost the toss, again. The Clackmannan opening attack was a spikeless, for it was he who forgot his kit, Neil Ramsay and Grieg Shaw. The opening bowlers, while keeping the runs down, could not make the breakthrough and it was left to first change bowler, Graham Bayes to impose his will on the game. Graham bowled well taking 6 wickets but he suffered from the free scoring of the Kismet side along with the other Clackmannan bowlers. The final score after 45 overs was Kismet 205 for 7 wickets. Again missed chances in the field early on gave the opposition the advantage, however, signs of improvement in the fielding were evident as this team begins to pull together. The developing right hand, left hand opening batting combination of Neil Ramsay and Alan Oliver opened for Clackmannan but Oliver(2) played ahead of a ball from Sharif and was bowled, 1 for 14 in six overs. Ramsay after a brief burst of scoring was caught behind off Naseem for 13, unlucky for some. The high powered combination of of Ian Davies, Graham Bayes and Scott Malcolmson amassed 2 runs between them and Clackmannan were in trouble. 13 overs gone 5 wickets down for 32. Relief came in the form of Greg Shaw and wicketkeeper for the day, Alison Ramsay. The middle order pair brought the score to 99 before Shaw was bowled by Mohammed for a much needed 42. Ramsay followed in Shaws footprints some three overs later bowled Mohammed for 33. Clackmannan made a final total of 115, all out in 31 overs. Clackmannan were beaten by a more mature and experienced side, however, time is on our side, the Clackmannan youngsters are improving all the time. |
