Match Report by Greig Taylor

On a warm day where conditions were perfect for batting, CCCC skipper won the toss and chose to bowl.
County opening bowling attack consisted off M.Booth and Z.Hussain who didn’t have the best of starts. After the sixth over, Glenrothes were 37 for 0 wickets. The intentions of the batsmen had been shown. The boundary was small, lighting outfield and two batsmen who were scoring extremely freely. The batter to depart was A. Galloway (24), but not being out. He retired hurt as he pulled up with a hamstring problem when he turned for another run. This brought M.Sampson to the crease and like his partner, Rowley; the two were scoring off nearly every single bowl. CCCC changed the attack and brought on the veteran spinner, JD Henderson. He and other bowler, Bayes, steadied the ship but runs were still being scored. Rowley advanced to his century and Sampson to his half-century. The first wicket to fall was M. Sampson (67). He was caught by Ahmed off the bowling of youngster, Graham Oliver. A brave decision for the skipper but it paid off. Like the first over, Oliver had a wicket in the second. G. Sampson was caught by Passe for 1 run. Wicket-keeper, Cammy Ross joined Rowley and they batted out the remaining overs. Rowley scoring a massive 207 runs where he passed the previous club record, 188*. Ross finished with 24 and Glenrothes had posted a daunting total of 351 runs.
CCCC openers, Passe and Malcolmson took their time starting off but soon they were both to depart. Passe (2) was caught behind and Malcolmson (6) caught by Sampson. Both Glenrothes opening bowlers had a scalp in their first spell. G. Bayes (20) and Alan Oliver came together at the crease and the two played some nice shots but Bayes tried to hit one over the top and resulted in getting caught. Oliver was joined by Hussain who played his usual shots but departed quickly for 11. Young keeper, Ross Murray joined Alan and the two took the score from 75 to 108. Ross played well scoring 10 runs on his CCCC debut. M. Booth (2) and G.Taylor (0) didn’t trouble the scorers but Oliver was the star off the show. Not only had he been hit by the ball earlier in his innings he continued and scored 49 runs. A useful knock and one he deserved after various amounts of bad luck over the last few weeks. A late burst from Ahmed (15) and some “unusual” bowling brought Clackmannan up to 152. The other batsmen to score runs G.S Oliver (1*) and J.D Henderson (2).
A day where Clackmannan was outplayed by a better side and a side that look a division winning side.
