Match Report On a warm day at Doune, the relegated Clackmannan side was taking on a strong Marchmont outfit.  Marchmont only needed 7 pts to guarantee promotion so they were not going to take this game lightly. Marchmont won the toss and batted.  Opening batsmen Chetty and Wilman found scoring difficult and soon the first wicket had fallen.  Zahid Hussain had Wilman caught behind for 0 runs.  The key batsman for Marchmont, A Sardesai, was next in.  If Clackmannan wanted to chase a small total then they needed to remove Sardesai quickly.  However he was dropped twice off the bowling of Hussain, once by Booth and then by Couper.  As Sardesai survived at one end, Tipu Sultan claimed the scalp of Chetty, bowled for 37 runs in an innings that lasted 62 balls and 77 minutes.  Marchmont captain, Will Collier came to the crease and showed the positive way that Marchmont have played all year.  He scored 22 runs in 22 balls before being caught fantastically at point by James Couper off the bowling of Matthew Booth.  A catch that should be a main contender for catch of the season at the senior awards ceremony.   Sardesai was next to go and Clackmannan knew this was a big wicket.  Gordon Kidd got one to lift off the pitch, this was snatched by Sultan and Sardesai had to go for 13 runs.  Mike Reed and Matt Flanagan began consolidating the Marchmont innings and continuing the flow of runs.  Flanagan was next to go caught by Gordon Kidd (returning the favour) off the bowling of T Sultan.  S Mathers (0) faced an over then was run out by an accurate throw from Sultan whilst following through.  Neil Granger and Justin Morgan had fun in the later staged hitting boundaries galore and in doing so racking up some bonus points which helped them get closer to the elusive promotion slot.  Neil Granger was caught behind off G Bayes and his brother, Ewan Granger, was also run out.  This time by keeper, Ross Murray.  , who had kept beautifully all day.   Marchmont had batted the full 50 overs and found themselves 186 for 9.  A good score in such intense heat.

Clackmannan opened with Jeff Thomas and James Couper.  Couper(0) was back in the pavilion quickly when he was caught by Flanagan off the bowling of Ewan Granger.  Thomas(10) was also caught by Flanagan but this time off Will Collier.  Clackmannan 12 for 2 off 7overs, not the best start to the innings. Ross Murray was defending and keeping an end up whilst his senior counterparts were falling around him.  Graham Bayes (5), Gordon Kidd (3) and Tipu Sultan (14), all going in the space of 7 overs whilst the youngster could only stand and wonder.  Alan Oliver came to the crease and supported Murray but Murray was soon to leave.  An excellent innings in trying circumstances Murray scored 19 runs from 69 balls in 97 minutes.  Oliver(9), Zahid Hussain (12) and Kashif Ali (4) scored some runs but not enough for the Clackmannan team to ever challenge the Marchmont score.  A last wicket partnership of 4 runs, involved Graham Oliver (9) and Matthew Booth (2*) and allowed Clackmannan ot pass the 100 mark. Clackmannan finishing on 108 all out giving them a total of 7 points.

A 78 run loss and a disappointing day for the young side.  Last game off the season next week against Falkland 2 will be a game the county side wish to win and leave Division 2 with a win and a bit of pride!!!
